Sunrise, Sunset

Yesterday Howie and I went to the VB oceanfront for the first time this year, and it was so much fun. We're not so much beach people (i.e. laying around in the sun for hours on end, actually getting into the water for more that 15 minutes or so), but we do enjoy going out to sit on the beach for a little while and walk around some. I find myself getting mesmerized by the waves. I think they're absolutely beautiful. I think waves are one of my favorite things that God created for us to enjoy. Waves, and sunsets. And sunrises. I'm thankful that God has allowed me to watch sunrises and sunsets over the years, in different cities I've lived, and also in countries I've visited. Sunrises are especially my favorite, because they bring in a new day, and new opportunities to not only serve God, but to enjoy God, and His goodness. They remind me of this passage in Lamentations 3:

22 Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.

23 They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.

24 I say to myself, "The LORD is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him."

Some sunrises are just too beautiful not to share, so here are some of my favorites:

This is the view from my dorm room that I had all four years I was at MACU (RBC)

This is from a random weekend in grad school when my roommates and I had friends over and we got up early to see the sunrise:

This is from my birthday weekend this past year:

This sunrise is from the plane as my Grandma and I flew back from Australia a few years back:

This sunrise is in Edgartown, on Martha's Vinyard, where Howie and I went for our honeymoon:

Lastly, this is actually a sunset, but it's too beautiful not to share. This is from Jaco Beach in Costa Rica:
